About

Sendu Bala

Sendu Bala (full name: Senduran Balasubramaniam) is a bioinformatician currently working at the Sanger Institute, involved with the 1000 Genomes Project.

Sendu started developing for BioPerl around June 2006. He reformulated Bio::Map and has overhauled Bio::Species and the taxonomy system generally (Bug #2061). These, combined with the speed-up to SearchIO formed the major new features of Bioperl 1.5.2, for which he was Release pumpkin. He became a core developer in February 2007.
